More than 200 of Washington, DC’s finest were invited to the historic Halcyon House in Georgetown to witness the US debut of Fibula, the exclusive European designed fine jewelry collection. The scene at the cocktail reception and fashion show was like one out of the fashion pages of Vogue with red carpet, striking white runway, VIP seating, lights, glitz and plenty of action.
The well heeled guests mingled, sipped champagne, noshed on savories from Famoso Restaurant in Chevy Chase and listened to gypsy jazz while awaiting the main event. The runway show began with a 30-second video art piece that featured Hellenistic art and culture just before models clad in Max Mara Spring 2008 looks and bedecked in Fibula jewels hit the runway. Though the front rows were filled with media, diplomats and the social elite, there wasn’t a bad seat in the house, as the breathtaking jewelry was magnified on large screens on either side of the runway. The crowd was wowed during the finale when models painted as Greek statues took the runway dripping in diamonds.
